CD47(alsoknownasRh-associatedprotein,GP42,integrin-associatedprotein(IAP),andneurophilin)isanimmunoglobulin-likeproteinthatinteractswithitsreceptor,Signal-regulatoryproteinalpha(SIRPα),onmonocytes,macrophagesordendriticcells.Thisbindinginteractionregulatestransmigration,oxidativeburstcytokineproduction,andphagocytosis,creatinga“don’teatme”signal.CD47isubiquitouslyexpressedonthesurfaceofnormalcells,butisoverexpressedinnumerouscancercells,whereitisthoughttocontributetotheresistanceoftumorstophagocyte-dependentclearance.
