AnagrelideisaFDA-approveddrugforthetreatmentofessentialthrombocythemia.Itisoriginallyidentifiedasapotentialinhibitorofplateletaggregation.Anagrelideselectivelyaffectsthrombocyteswhileshowsnosignificanteffectonwhitebloodcells,erythrocytes,orcoagulation.Anagrelideisapotentinotropicagentfordogswithremarkablevasodilatoryactivity.Additionally,anagrelidecanreducerenalbloodflow.FurThermore,anagrelidehasshowntoplayrolesinotherchronicmyeloproliferativedisorders,suchaspolycythemiavera,chronicmyeloidleukemiaandagnogenicmyeloidmetaplasia.Anagrelidehassomesideeffectsinvolvingheadache,diarrhea,edema,palpitations,andaBDominalpain.
