Background:
VEID is the specific recognition sequence for caspase-6/Mch2. Caspase 6 is only one of at least three effector caspases, the others being caspase 3 and 7, that are active during caspasedependent apoptosisLoss of DNA-binding activity and TNFα-induced apoptosis can be prevented by Z-VEID-FMK. The caspase-6-speci?c inhibitor Z-VEID-FMK signi?cantly prevented apoptosis of caspase-6-microinjected neurons, and was also able to abolish the cleavage of procaspase-8, although caspase-6 is activated downstream of caspase-8 in Fas-mediated apoptosis.
Description:
Z-VEID-FMK is a synthetic peptide that irreversibly inhibits activity of VEID-dependent caspases (e.g., caspase-6). The inhibitor is designed as a methyl ester to facilitate cell permeability. Can be used for both in vitro and in vivo studies--see note for using this product in vitro.

Biological Activity:
We recommend using 2-10 µM for inhibiting caspase activity in cell culture. The optimal dose may vary for different cells and culture conditions.

Storage / Stability:
Store at or below –20°C. Solid form is stable at least 12 months from date of receipt, when stored as directed. Do not store aqueous solutions for more than one day.
Notes:
The inhibitor is designed as a methyl ester to facilitate cell permeability. If the intended use is on purified or recombinant enzymes, esterase should be added to generate free carboxyl groups.
