ThehomeostaticchemokineCXCL13(alsocalledBcell-attractingchemokine1[BCA-1]orB-lymphocytechemoattractant[BLC])isconstitutivelyexpressedinsecondarylymphoidtissueandinitiateslymphoidneogenesiswhenexpressedaberrantlyinmice.CXCL13hasalsobeendetectedinchronicinflammationassociatedwithhumanlymphoidneogenesis,suggestingapathogenicrole.Folliculardendriticcells(FDCs)aregenerallyconsideredtobethemajorsourceofCXCL13bothinnormalandaberrantlymphoidtissue.CXCL13hasbeentheexclusiveligandforCXCR5,whichinitiateschemotaxistowardanincreasinggrADIentinvitroandtoBcellzonesinlymphnodesthatexpressCXCL13.Morerecently,CXCR5expressionhasalsobeenshowninDNTcellsinmice,asubsetofCD4follicularThcells,andsometonsillarCD4+CD25+Tregcellsinhumans.
